Win a Gucci Jackie 1961
First introduced in the 1960s, the curved shoulder bag became closely associated with Jackie Kennedy Onassis and was eventually given the name we know today. Gucci has returned to the design repeatedly over the decades, tweaking proportions, materials and details while keeping the bit that makes a Jackie instantly recognisable: that relaxed half-moon shape and distinctive piston closure.
Which brings us to the slightly difficult part.
Which one?
For this Gucci Jackie competition, we decided not to choose for you. The winner will be able to select their favourite from our specially selected range of Jackie styles, including classic leather, suede, GG canvas and some considerably more colourful options.
There is black, naturally. There is white for people with significantly more confidence around red wine than we possess. There are rich browns and beautifully tactile suede versions. And then there are the florals, for anyone who looked at all that tasteful restraint and thought, absolutely not.
In other words, there is no predetermined winning bag sitting in a box waiting for you. You win the Jackie first. Then you choose your Jackie.
The Gucci Jackie 1961 is an interesting bag precisely because it doesn’t rely on an enormous logo to announce itself. Its shape does most of the work. It can look polished, slightly slouchy, vintage, modern or wonderfully excessive depending on the version you choose — which is also why picking just one for this competition felt unnecessarily bossy.
So we didn’t.
